We create our handcrafted pies with both traditional and gourmet recipes.  What do they all have in common? Other than all being 100% awesome - they have a flaky puff pastry top and a shortcrust bottom, which graciously holds the filling in.  Hold your pie in one hand and eat on the go!

Your true-blue Aussie
Meat Pie experience awaits!

Our Story

After 6 long years of deprivation from anything close to an Australian meat pie (a staple of every Aussie’s diet), it became clear to Ryan that the only way to solve his problem was to start creating his own! (spoiler: he’s now known as the 'Pie Lord')

The revelation of creating Aussie Meat Pies in Canada happened on a crisp winter's day on his way up the chair lift at Big White Ski Resort in Kelowna, BC.  He noticed a perogies concession at the bottom of the run and thought, "Why aren’t there any meat pies here?"

Four years later, he developed the base for the Real Deal Australian Meat Pies after perfecting his Australian-born recipe.  This developed into true-blue Aussie Meat Pies in Canada, as good as, if not better than, what he found in Australia.

Real Deal Pies are packed with heaps of filling. For example, our steak cheese and bacon pies overflow with tender cubes of steak and rich gravy, riddled with bacon and oozing with hot, melting cheese.

You may ask - what makes them Australian?

We’re glad you asked!  Our pies don’t contain space-taking veggies like potatoes, peas or carrots (except for our very Canadian Chicken Pot Pie!). They are brimming with tasty fillings and a rich gravy that doesn’t run. Surrounded by shortcrust on the bottom and topped with flaky puff pastry on the top - they are the pinnacle of eat-on-the-go foods!

“Just had to drop you a line and say I tried the pies that I bought from you at the Kelowna Farmers Market this morning and I think they are just like the ones I grew up with (30+ years ago) in Australia!!
